The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the first combat deployment of unmanned surface vessels (USVs) by American forces, which struck a submarine and ship maintenance facility at the Bandar Abbas Naval Base in Iran. According to [CENTCOM](https://x.com/CENTCOM/status/2076679617440530442), U.S. forces utilized multiple one-way attack surface drones to target the facility. The operation involved three Corsair USVs, manufactured by Saronic, which successfully struck a docked Ghadir-class midget submarine. CENTCOM stated the strikes degraded Iran’s ability to continue attacking commercial shipping. The deployment marks a significant milestone in the operational use of maritime unmanned platforms in combat operations. Saronic confirmed its technology supported the mission, highlighting the Corsair’s capabilities in autonomous maritime operations. ### Sources - [CENTCOM on X](https://x.com/CENTCOM/status/2076679617440530442) - [CBS News: U.S. uses sea drones in combat for first time to attack Iranian naval base](https://www.cbsnews.com/news/us-iran-war-first-sea-drone-attack-bandar-abbas-naval-base/) - [Naval News: CENTCOM Deploys Saronic Corsair USV Against Iranian Submarine At Bandar Abbas](https://www.navalnews.com/naval-news/2026/07/centcom-saronic-corsair-usv-strike-iran-submarine-bandar-abbas/) _AI generated_
